Wapusk means « White Bear » in the « Cree » language (North American Native Nation). This book is a collection of photographs and the story of a journey in extreme conditions, a tribute to one of the most iconic and most extraordinary animal species on Earth, the Polar Bear.
It was in Northern Manitoba, Canada that we went in winter for a unique, rare and intimate experience with these great predators: Every year in February, after a long winter spent in their dens, females emerge with their young, who get to see the light for the very first time.
At temperatures as low as -57° Celsius, the photography conditions were just as challenging for the photographers as well as for the equipment.
Here is the story and photographs of this unique expedition, which you will discover in this book, with also valuable field advices about photography in extreme cold weather conditions.
The authors, Bruno & Dorota Sénéchal, wildlife photographers and great travelers, specialists of the Canadian Far North and the cold, share with us here, secrets of a magnificent adventure of the animal life.
Preface by Fabrice Genevois, biologist, ornithologist, field guide and speaker.
Book in English and in French language.
